I was recently contacted by a graphics artist working for a Kuwaiti TV channel (Alafasy TV), and has used some of the videos found on this website to create an animation for the TV channel. It’s beautifully done, and he has kindly given me permission to include it as a podcast.

The arabic audio is the ‘Talbiyah’. Muslims recite this on their journey to Makkah. It’s roughly translated as follows

"I respond to Your call my Lord
I respond to You, there is no diety save You.
All praise, grace and dominion belong to You.
You have no partners."

13 - The Kabah - A Tour - Voice Only

This is the third video in the 3D Kabah podcast series. - THIS IS A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL PODCAST 3 WITH THE MUSIC TRACK REMOVED.

In this video we take a tour around the Kabah. Stopping to see the Black Stone, The Kabah door, the Hijr Ismael, the water spout and the Yemeni corner.

This video will allow you to get a sense of where these things are in relation to each other, and in relation to the Kabah.

The act of Tawaaf, is what you typically see on video footage of the Kabah, with thousands of people walking anti-clockwise around the Kabah.

Tawaaf starts at the black stone which you kiss, or touch, or just point towards depending on how busy it is and how easy it is to do any of these. In reality, there are always so many people there that it’s sufficient to stand on the black line (indicating the position of the black stone), and point towards it.

12 - A Look Inside The Kabah - 1 min

What is inside the Kabah and what does it look like? This is something that I’ve been working on, by piecing bits of information together from various sources. In this video we take a look at the final results. I believe that I’ve managed to create something that’s quite accurate and certainly something that you won’t find anywhere else. Check out the video in which we literally fly into the Kabah, fly around the inside and out through the door again.

11 - Mosque Extension - Preview - 1m 20s

The Masjid Al Haram is currently undergoing an extension which is due for completion in 2010. The extension in partly in the Saee area (between Safa & Marwa), and partly on the North side of the mosque. In this episode, we get to see the relative extent of the extension with respect to the current mosque. The video starts close to the Kabah, we then pull out to reveal the whole mosque and pan around to see the extension.

10 - Inside The Kabah - Preview - 1 min

What is inside the Kabah and what does it look like? This is something that I’ve been working on, by piecing bits of information together from various sources. In this video we take a preview of the results. In addition we can compare the 3D model with an actual rare photo taken from the inside of the Kabah. I believe that I’ve managed to create something that’s quite accurate and certainly something that you won’t find anywhere else. 9 -Unfocused Writing - 1 Min

This is a video that would be really useful for presentations, demos to illustrate the Kabah, and the surrounding mosque...and it’s also nice to look at. In this video we start very close to the Kabah, focusing on the Arabic calligraphy on the Kiswah covering the Kabah door. We then slowly pull back further and further revealing the mosque and eventually hovering above the mosque to see n overview of the whole mosque. I’ve experimented with camera focusing for this video, and this really brings the model to life.

8 -Tawaf - 1 Min

In this video, we go around the Kabah and see how to perform Tawaf (walking around the Kabah). The video follows 2 figures as they walk around the Kabah, and helps to illustrate the size of the Kabah and the distance require to walk. Due to a computer failure I am not yet able to finish this 3D render. Although this video does end early, it illustrate the important points of the tawaf, so is still informative.

This video is entitled "jump". The video starts outside the Kabah where we are suddenly propelled upwards, hundreds of feet giving an aerial overview of the mosque. The camera then slowly falls back towards the ground from the outside of the mosque near the saee area (around the hills of Safah and marwah)

We then fly in to the mosque and fly down the saee corridoor towards the area of safa.

6 - SAEE - 1 Min 13 Secs

Saee is the part of Umrah where pligrams walk between the locations of the two hills “Safa” and “Marwah”. The walk is done seven times from hill-to-hill, and signifies the running back & forth that Prophet Abraham’s wife, Hagar, did whilst searching for water for her child “Ishmael”. Hagar was searching for water between these hills in a time when this area was nothing but desert and she was all alone in the area, underneath the blazing sun.

The starting hill “Safa” is about 100 yards from the Kabah, and the distance between the 2 hills is approximately 450m.

The 3D Kabah model now includes the area between the hills Safa & Marwah. This will be used, Inshallah, to create a full Umrah tutorial over the next few months.

This current podcast consist of a preview of the Saee area.
